Sending money between Nigeria and Russia: what to expect

11 September 2026 · 7 min read

A practical walk-through of a Nigeria-Russia transfer in 2026 — local pay-ins, settlement timing, documentation, and the questions our support team hears most.

Moving money between Nigeria and Russia rarely involves a single wire crossing a border. In practice it is two domestic payments joined by a settlement layer in the middle — and understanding that structure explains most of what feels unusual about the process.

Step one: a local pay-in

You pay in locally, in your own currency, to account details we provide for your route. That payment never leaves your country, which is why it usually clears in minutes rather than days and why it costs a fraction of an international wire.

If your Blocs balance already covers the exchange, no pay-in is needed — the amount is taken from your wallet and the conversion happens immediately.

Step two: conversion at a locked rate

Once funds are confirmed, the conversion runs at the rate you accepted. Because the rate was locked when you confirmed, a delay in your bank's confirmation does not change the amount the recipient gets.

Step three: local payout

The recipient is paid domestically in the destination country, into a bank account in their own name. Most payouts on this corridor complete the same business day; the common causes of delay are name mismatches and bank cut-off times rather than the exchange itself.

Documentation and verification

Small exchanges need very little. Larger amounts, and anything involving regulated products such as savings, investments or credit, require identity verification. This is not a formality we invented — currency services are obliged to know who their customers are and to screen against sanctions lists.

The practical advice: verify your identity before you need it, not in the middle of a time-sensitive transfer.

Questions our team hears most

Can I send to someone else's account? Yes, provided the recipient's details are correct and complete. Can I cancel mid-transfer? Once a conversion has executed, it cannot be reversed at the original rate — contact support immediately and we will tell you the options. What if I paid the wrong amount? Send us the reference; underpayments are requoted and overpayments are returned or credited to your balance.
